Optimal
The fastest route through this level involves clipping into the ceiling and crossing almost the entire level out-of-bounds. This saves around a second and is considerably easier than playing the level inbounds.
Further clip - Marbles start
- After rolling from the slanted platform at the very start of the level, Marbles will sometimes roll across both flat platforms and sometimes fall between them.
- Since this wall clip doesn't have a platform to stand on next to the wall, it must be set up manually. Roll off the platform, piggyback and jump to the wall. Briefly tap left, then press the "clip button." Due to the slant of the wall it is necessary to team throw to clip through after getting in. For this reason, this clip can only be done starting with Marbles in front.
- The clip is height dependent, but the slanted wall can help you stay in position as long as you tap left while still moving upwards. If you fail the clip, you can dropdash back to the platform on the left, switch back to Marbles, and spin-dash at the wall to try again.
- Once inside, switch back to Marbles. Just roll and jump continuously to maintain max speed, similar to Guiding Glade.
- At around 0:28 it is necessary to shell jump over the bonus. Going in the bonus loses at least 4 seconds.
- At 0:31 it is time to clip back inbounds. It's possible to clip anywhere on this slanted wall, and since you can stand on it you can use the "setup button." You can go for a semisolid dropdash on the wooden platform to save another third of a second.
Closer clip - Checkers start
This is an alternate method of clipping into the wall which some runners find more consistent. If you intend to use this strat, you should end the previous level with Checkers to set it up.
- The clip is height dependent, so if it doesn't work, it likely means you were either too far from the wall or not at the proper height.
- If you fail it, you can switch back to Checkers and dropdash piggyback to get back in position.
- If everything goes perfectly this method should be almost identical to the later Marbles clip, if only a few frames slower. This combined with the few frames lost in Bluppo's Barge means this method is likely about 0.1-0.2s slower. Since factors such as the semisolid groundpound are likely to be more impactful, you should choose whichever method you find to be more consistent.
Any 39 is good on this level.
