This stage use the [[Tech and glitches#Reverse looking one button remap clip :|reverse wall clip]] twice to go out of bound and skip most of the level (including the bonus that is needed to progress in the normal route). you can clip on the wall next to the penguin easily (if you have marbles in front at that point you can then teamthrow and dropdash jump to save time). You wanna try to get out of water and dropdash jump often to save time since this is faster then continuously swimming. There is another clip at the end to go back in bound that need to be done from a dropdash, piggyback, jump to turn around hugging the wall then use the clip button remap. It is not too hard to do but it is something to pratice a bit to get the feel of it since you don't wanna get hit by the shark in any circumstance. If you do get hit you have to restart the stage from the begginning, you cannot get back in-bound if you don't have both characters.

Optimal

This level is essentially just two clips with some out-of-bounds dropdashing across water.

  • If you need a buddy before entering this stage, go back to The Pip Ship and get one. The first bubble in this stage is quite far out of the way. Put Marbles in front if you haven't done so already.
  • You can easily pass under the penguins without taking damage, but if you're too slow you can roll through them. Once you touch the wall you can set up and execute a wall clip with your two special binds.
  • Make sure to fall a little bit before tossing Checkers as you need to avoid the bonus directly above the out-of-bounds location.
  • With Checkers in front, it is also possible to do a top corner clip on the corner above the water immediately below the clip spot, but you will need to fall back into the water, turn left and swap again to get through. This method of clipping is more difficult and slower.
  • The fastest way to traverse the water is by jumping out and dropdashing before you land. You can also do one jump out of the water then dropdash - you will retain maximum speed. Any other way of travelling across the water is slower, including doing two jumps before dropdashing, piggybacking or switching to Marbles and gliding.
  • The sequence of dropdashes shown in the video is exact, as it travels optimally across the water and positions you for the exit clip. After landing in the water do 3 dropdashes, then do a jump when the fish shows up, then do two dropdashes (going over the fish with the first one), then one jump. You will now be in position to jump out of the water, dropdash piggyback and clip.
  • The clip back inbounds must be set up manually, but it is easier since the wall slopes towards you. As you approach the wall piggybacked, quickly turn left and press your "clip button" to get back inbounds.
  • Be careful to avoid taking damage on the fish as you clip back inbounds - if needed, wait for the fish to pass. If you take damage out of bounds you will be unable to clip back in and will need to reset the level. If you take damage after clipping, you can enter the next level solo Checkers and recover your buddy at the first bubble, only losing about 1 second.

Optimally, aim for 26, but any time of 28 or better is good here.
