This "boss fight" includes a few tricky maneuvers that save a few seconds each.

Optimal

  • At the start, it's barely possible to make it under the snowball and land on the platform where the cutscene begins. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, you can land in the corner and jump up for only a small time loss.
  • You cannot buffer a spin-dash towards Cirra after her intro cutscene - instead, hold right and press attack after the cutscene ends.
  • When she launches the tornado at you, jump between the tornado and glide to get stuck in front of the block. This is only possible with Marbles.
  • You must jump out of the grape juice within a few frames of landing in it, but you cannot buffer the jump, so you need to learn the timing. There is a pool of kool-aid at the start of Shrine of the Salamancer that you can use to practice with the "Create Buddy Bubbles" assist enabled.
  • The ending cutscene trigger is about 1 block to the right of the gap, but you can climb over it with a triple jump. There is a ledge immediately above the top of the screen. Hug the wall as you climb to avoid the trigger. Groundpound to the ledge, then dropdash off it. Activating the cutscene loses about 9 seconds.
  • Another method to climb to the hidden platform is to jump off the elevated left platform, dropdash, piggyback, and throw, instead of doing the piggyback first.

17 or 18 is good here.

Alternative (checkers)

  • You can dropdash to Cirra to activate the tornado, or just roll forward.
  • It's possible to go under the falling block and jump off one of the croc heads, but going over is much easier.
  • This route is about the same speed as starting with Marbles but omitting the jump out of the water and just letting the tornado push you all the way back.
